FEES

Fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), as recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), is a versatile procedure that can be conducted in outpatient clinics or at bedside. This portable method involves passing an endoscope transnasally to assess swallowing function. Unlike some other diagnostic procedures, FEES doesn't involve radiation exposure, making it safe for use in various settings, including hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.

At Rural Rehabilitation Services, LLC, our speech-language pathologist specializes in dysphagia diagnostic services. We offer FEES to our patients and facilities, providing a comprehensive assessment of swallowing function. FEES can be utilized for both therapeutic purposes and diagnostic therapy, allowing us to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans.

In cases where further evaluation is warranted, such as when symptoms like hoarse voice or swallowing pain are present, our speech-language pathologists may consult with physicians to consider a referral to an otolaryngologist. This collaboration ensures thorough assessment and management of potential underlying conditions affecting nasal, pharyngeal, or laryngeal regions.

If you or someone you know is experiencing swallowing difficulties, don't hesitate to reach out to us for expert FEES services and compassionate care. We're here to support you on your journey to improved swallowing function and overall well-being.
